2026 store screenshot reference
App Store Screenshot Sizes (2026): iPhone, iPad & Google Play
For iPhone, upload 6.9-inch screenshots at 1320 × 2868, 1290 × 2796 or 1260 × 2736 pixels in portrait. For iPad, use 13-inch screenshots at 2064 × 2752 or 2048 × 2732. When you skip smaller display classes, App Store Connect (opens in a new tab) scales your larger set down for them. Google Play uses dimension and aspect-ratio limits instead of fixed sizes.

Which iPhone screenshot sizes does the App Store accept?
Apple groups iPhone screenshots by display class, and each class accepts only the exact pixel sizes listed in Apple: Screenshot specifications (opens in a new tab). Landscape uploads use the same numbers with width and height swapped. Classes marked "scaled" are filled automatically from a larger class when you leave them empty.
| Display class | Accepted portrait | Landscape | Devices (per Apple) | Status |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 6.9-inch | 1260 × 2736, 1290 × 2796, 1320 × 2868 | 2736 × 1260, 2796 × 1290, 2868 × 1320 | iPhone Air, 18 Pro Max, 17 Pro Max, 16 Pro Max, 16 Plus, 15 Pro Max, 15 Plus, 14 Pro Max | Largest class; provide this or 6.5-inch |

Apple also lists 4-inch and 3.5-inch classes for very old devices, and each is scaled from the next class up. The same page now includes an iPhone Duo entry, with outer display sizes of 1398 × 2034 and inner display sizes of 2007 × 2853. Apple notes that upload support for it "will be available later this year", so it can't be uploaded yet.
Which iPad and Mac screenshot sizes are accepted?
If your app runs on iPad, Apple requires 13-inch iPad screenshots (opens in a new tab). Every smaller iPad class can be scaled from them.
| Display class | Accepted portrait | Landscape | Status |
|---|---|---|---|
| 13-inch | 2064 × 2752, 2048 × 2732 | 2752 × 2064, 2732 × 2048 | Required if the app runs on iPad |
| 12.9-inch (iPad Pro 2nd gen) | 2048 × 2732 | 2732 × 2048 | Scaled from 13-inch |
| 11-inch | 1488 × 2266, 1668 × 2420, 1668 × 2388, 1640 × 2360 | 2266 × 1488, 2420 × 1668, 2388 × 1668, 2360 × 1640 | Scaled from 13-inch |

| Platform | Accepted sizes | Status |
|---|---|---|
| Mac (16:10) | 1280 × 800, 1440 × 900, 2560 × 1600, 2880 × 1800 | Required for Mac apps |
| Apple TV | 1920 × 1080, 3840 × 2160 | Required for Apple TV apps |
| Apple Vision Pro | 3840 × 2160 | Required for Vision Pro apps |
What general rules apply to every App Store screenshot?
| Rule | Value |
|---|---|
| Screenshots per display class | 1 to 10 (Apple (opens in a new tab)) |
| File formats | .png, .jpg, .jpeg |
| Transparency | Not allowed: no alpha channel or transparent pixels |
| Maximum file size | Not stated on Apple's specification page |
What are the Google Play screenshot requirements?
Google Play doesn't list fixed device sizes. Instead, Play Console Help (opens in a new tab) sets limits on dimensions, aspect ratio and screenshot count. A listing needs at least 2 screenshots across its device types before it can be published.
| Asset | Dimensions | Ratio / format | Count and notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Phone screenshots | 320 px min, 3840 px max per side | Longest side at most 2× the shortest; JPEG or 24-bit PNG, no alpha | Up to 8. For recommendation eligibility, Google suggests at least 4 at 1080 px or more (9:16 portrait at least 1080 × 1920, or 16:9 landscape at least 1920 × 1080) |
| 7-inch and 10-inch tablets | 1,080 to 7,680 px | 16:9 landscape or 9:16 portrait | Up to 8 per type; add at least 4 |
| Chromebook | 1,080 to 7,680 px | 16:9 landscape or 9:16 portrait | Up to 8; add at least 4 |
| Feature graphic | 1024 × 500 | JPEG or 24-bit PNG, no alpha | Required to publish |
| App icon | 512 × 512 | 32-bit PNG with alpha | Required; 1024 KB max |
Google's page gives 3840 px as the general maximum, but its large-screen guidance goes up to 7,680 px, so the page contradicts itself. Staying at or below 3840 px on the long side works under both rules. Apart from Android XR, the page doesn't give a general file-size limit for screenshots.
Which StoreLocale presets match each store class?
StoreLocale exports PNG files at preset pixel sizes, and every size is scaled from a 1320 × 2868 portrait design. Width and height are scaled separately, so only presets with iPhone proportions keep your layout intact. Every other preset stretches the portrait design unevenly.
| StoreLocale preset | Pixels | Store class by pixel size | Proportions vs 1320 × 2868 |
|---|---|---|---|
| iPhone 6.9" | 1320 × 2868 | Apple 6.9-inch | Same |
| iPhone 6.7" | 1290 × 2796 | Apple 6.9-inch (1290 × 2796 is now an accepted 6.9-inch size) | Near-identical (under 0.5% difference) |
| iPhone 6.5" | 1242 × 2688 | Apple 6.5-inch | Near-identical (under 0.5% difference) |
| iPhone 6.1" | 1179 × 2556 | Apple 6.3-inch (Apple lists 1179 × 2556 under 6.3-inch, not 6.1-inch) | Near-identical (under 0.5% difference) |
| iPhone 5.5" | 1242 × 2208 | Apple 5.5-inch | Content widened about 22% relative to height |
| iPad Pro 13" | 2064 × 2752 | Apple 13-inch iPad | Content widened about 63% relative to height |
| iPad Pro 11", iPad 10.9", iPad mini | 1668 × 2420, 1640 × 2360, 1488 × 2266 | Apple 11-inch iPad | Content widened about 43-51% relative to height |
| Standard Phone | 1080 × 1920 | Google Play phone (9:16) | Content widened about 22% relative to height |
| Modern Phone | 1080 × 2400 | None: 2400 is more than 2× 1080, over Google Play's ratio limit | Content narrowed about 2% relative to height |
| 7" Tablet, 10" Tablet | 1200 × 1920, 1600 × 2560 | Within Play's size limits, but 10:16 rather than the 9:16 Google suggests for tablets | Content widened about 36% relative to height |
| Mac App Store | 2880 × 1800 | Apple Mac (16:10) | Portrait design smeared to landscape (about 3.5× wider); not usable |
| TV & 4K Display | 3840 × 2160 | Apple TV / Vision Pro size | Portrait design smeared to landscape (about 3.9× wider); not usable |
What is the minimum set of screenshots to upload?
- iPhone app: one 6.9-inch set, for example 1320 × 2868. App Store Connect scales it down to 6.5-inch, and from there to 6.3-inch and 6.1-inch, and so on.
- Universal app: add one 13-inch iPad set at 2064 × 2752 or 2048 × 2732, captured from the iPad layout.
- Mac app: one 16:10 set, such as 2880 × 1800.
- Google Play: at least 2 screenshots to publish, plus the 1024 × 500 feature graphic and 512 × 512 icon. For the phone listing, 1080 × 1920 portrait meets Google's recommended minimum.
Upload a smaller class yourself only when the scaled version hides something important. One example is a UI that looks noticeably different on smaller iPhones. If you localize screenshots, each extra display class multiplies by the number of locales, so file counts grow quickly.
Should screenshots be portrait or landscape?
Apple accepts every iPhone and iPad class in both orientations, using the same dimensions swapped. Most phone apps use portrait because it matches how the app is held. Google's recommended sizes for games and apps (opens in a new tab) allow either 9:16 portrait or 16:9 landscape, so landscape suits games played sideways.
Why do screenshot uploads get rejected?
- Wrong exact pixels. Apple accepts only the listed sizes, so an export that is 1 pixel off, or trimmed by a design tool, won't match any class.
- Alpha channel. Apple doesn't allow transparency, and Google Play wants 24-bit PNG or JPEG. On macOS, the command sips -g hasAlpha file.png shows whether a PNG has an alpha channel. If it does, flatten it or convert it to JPEG.
- Aspect ratio over 2:1 on Google Play. A 1320 × 2868 iPhone file is about 2.17:1, so Google Play rejects it.
- Too many files. The limits are 10 per display class on Apple and 8 per device type on Google Play.
- Unsupported format. Apple lists .png, .jpg and .jpeg only. Convert WebP or HEIC captures before uploading.
Frequently asked questions
What is the best App Store screenshot size in 2026?
1320 × 2868 pixels in portrait, for the 6.9-inch iPhone class. Apple (opens in a new tab) also accepts 1290 × 2796 and 1260 × 2736 for that class, and it scales 6.9-inch screenshots down for smaller iPhones.
Is 1290 × 2796 still a valid App Store screenshot size?
Yes. Apple now lists 1290 × 2796 as an accepted size for the 6.9-inch class, alongside 1320 × 2868 and 1260 × 2736. StoreLocale's "iPhone 6.7"" preset exports at 1290 × 2796.
Do I need 6.5-inch screenshots if I upload 6.9-inch?
No. Apple only requires 6.5-inch screenshots when 6.9-inch screenshots are missing. If 6.5-inch is left empty, scaled 6.9-inch screenshots are used.
What size should iPad screenshots be?
Use 2064 × 2752 or 2048 × 2732 in portrait, or the same sizes swapped for landscape. Apple requires 13-inch screenshots for apps that run on iPad and scales them down to the smaller iPad classes.
Can I use my iPhone screenshots on Google Play?
Not directly. Google Play caps the long side at twice the short side, and 1320 × 2868 is about 2.17:1. Export a 9:16 set instead, for example 1080 × 1920.
How many screenshots can I upload?
Apple accepts 1 to 10 per display class. Google Play allows up to 8 per device type and needs at least 2 to publish.
Why does App Store Connect reject my PNG screenshots?
Check two things first: dimensions that aren't one of the listed sizes and an alpha channel. Apple doesn't allow transparency, so flatten the image or export it as JPEG.
Can I upload iPhone Duo screenshots yet?
Not yet. Apple lists iPhone Duo sizes, but says App Store Connect upload support will be available later this year.
