Translate your App Store screenshots into 30+ languages
StoreLocale translates the app interface inside your App Store and Google Play screenshots, not just the captions around them. AI detects each UI string, translates it and repaints it in place. Device frames and layout stay intact, and you export a ZIP of PNGs organized by language and store size.
Why do localized screenshots matter?
Screenshots are often the first thing shoppers see, and Apple advises (opens in a new tab) localizing them for each market your app is offered in.
Screenshots appear before your product page
Depending on orientation, the first one to three screenshots appear in App Store search results when no app preview is available (Apple: Creating your product page (opens in a new tab)).
Shoppers prefer their own language
In a survey of 8,709 consumers in 29 countries, 76% of online shoppers preferred to buy products with information in their native language (CSA Research (opens in a new tab)).
A few languages reach most users
Google notes that you can reach almost 80% of internet users worldwide with only 10 languages (Android Developers Blog (opens in a new tab)).
What gets translated in each screenshot?
Translating only the caption leaves the app itself in English. StoreLocale translates both layers.
| Screenshot element | Caption-only localization | StoreLocale |
|---|---|---|
| Headline or caption above the device | Translated | Translated as an editable text layer per language |
| Buttons, tabs, labels and content inside the app | Stay in the source language | Detected, translated and repainted in place |
| Device frame, background and layout | Kept | Kept for every language |
| Posters, video frames and rating badges | Unchanged | Masked and left untouched |
Preview translated in-app UI text
Pick a storefront language to see how translated UI text sits inside a sample app screen. This is an interactive preview; real results come from the AI repaint in the editor and should always be reviewed before publishing.

Watch how StoreLocale detects in-app UI text, repaints it seamlessly in 30+ languages, and exports store-ready screenshot sets in 44 seconds.

How do you translate app screenshots with StoreLocale?
From source screenshots to a localized ZIP for every store listing in four steps.
Upload your screenshots
Drop in PNG, JPEG, WebP or GIF screenshots. Each file becomes a slide, and duplicate uploads are skipped automatically.
Pick target languages
Choose from 32 target languages, including Japanese, German, Simplified and Traditional Chinese, and right-to-left Arabic and Hebrew.
Detect, translate, repaint
AI finds each UI string and translates it at no credit cost. Edit any translation, then generate the repainted screenshot for each language.
Review & export the ZIP
Compare every result with the source side by side, then download PNGs grouped by platform, language and size preset.
What can developers and ASO teams do with StoreLocale?
Everything needed to design, translate and package screenshot sets for global releases.
UI text detection & in-place repaint
A vision model finds every UI string with its position, color and weight. An image model then repaints each string in the target language, while video frames, posters and rating badges are masked and left untouched.
Device frames that stay put
Wrap screenshots in iPhone 16 Pro Max, iPhone 16, Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra, Google Pixel 9 Pro, iPad Pro 13" or MacBook Pro 16" frames, plus clay, browser and TV frames. The frame and layout carry over to every language.
Per-language captions & styling
Write a different headline for each language in 8 font families, with gradient or image backgrounds, drop shadows and 9 slide templates such as Headline top, Two devices and Feature stack.
One ZIP for every language
Export all selected languages and size presets as PNGs in one ZIP, organized into platform, language and size folders. Strict export skips or blocks slides that still contain untranslated text.
Slides, undo & autosave
Build full screenshot sets across multiple slides with layer reordering, 50-step undo, a side-by-side compare view, browser autosave, cloud sync and live sync between open tabs.
Two-factor sign-in & BYOK
Protect your account with optional TOTP two-factor authentication and hashed backup codes. Pay with one-time credit packs or connect your own OpenRouter or Gemini API key.
Which screenshot sizes can you export?
Size presets mapped to Apple and Google Play screenshot slots, plus the device frames available for each category. The screenshot size guide lists every accepted size.

Store sizes from Apple's screenshot specifications and Google Play's preview asset rules. Each preset exports a PNG at the listed pixel size, scaled from the 1320 × 2868 design canvas. Presets with a different shape (iPad, Android, landscape) are stretched from that design, so check the layout of each one before you upload.

Need to translate video thumbnails and covers too?
The same detect, translate and repaint steps can translate the text inside a thumbnail or cover image. Exports currently use the portrait 1320 × 2868 canvas, so there is no 16:9 thumbnail output yet.
Video thumbnail localization
Translate the headline text inside thumbnail images so each audience sees it in their language.
YouTube thumbnail translator
Translate the text in a YouTube thumbnail image for each language and review it before you publish.
TikTok cover translator
Translate the text on TikTok cover images while keeping the artwork and layout around it.
How do you plan a screenshot localization?
Practical guides on store locale codes, text expansion and right-to-left layouts, plus per-language notes for major markets.
What do people ask about translating app screenshots?
How the AI works, what you export, what it costs and how your data is handled.
How does StoreLocale translate App Store screenshots?
Upload your screenshots and choose target languages. A vision model detects each UI string, the strings are translated, and an image model repaints them in place for every language. You can edit any translation, compare the result with the original, and export PNGs. Because the repaint is generative, review each language before you publish.
What is the difference between translating captions and translating the in-app UI?
Caption localization replaces only the marketing headline around the device. In-app UI localization also translates the buttons, tabs, labels and content inside the screenshot, so shoppers see your app in their language. StoreLocale does both. Read the caption vs in-app UI guide for when each approach fits.
Are exported screenshots ready for App Store Connect and Google Play Console?
StoreLocale exports PNGs at preset pixel sizes, such as 1320 × 2868 for Apple's 6.9-inch iPhone class and 1080 × 1920 for Android phones. Every preset is scaled from the same 1320 × 2868 design, so check each size, and always confirm the upload in App Store Connect or Play Console. See the screenshot size guide.
Does StoreLocale upload screenshots to the App Store or Google Play for me?
No. StoreLocale gives you a ZIP of PNGs organized by platform, language and size. You upload the files yourself in App Store Connect or Google Play Console, which lets you check each locale before it goes live.
Which languages are supported?
There are 32 target languages plus English as the source, including Japanese, Korean, German, French, Spanish, Italian, Turkish, Hindi, Simplified and Traditional Chinese, and right-to-left Arabic and Hebrew. Portuguese is one generic variant, so review wording for Brazil or Portugal. Browse the language guides.
How much does screenshot translation cost?
The editor, device frames and exports are free. AI repaint uses one-time credit packs (Starter $9 for 30 credits, Launch $29 for 120 credits, Scale $69 for 350 credits) that never expire. Each localized screenshot costs 1 credit on Standard (1K), 2 on Pro (2K) or 4 on Ultra (4K), and text detection and translation cost 0 credits. See pricing for a per-pack breakdown.
Do I need Figma or other design software?
No. StoreLocale includes an in-browser canvas editor with device frames, gradient backgrounds, typography controls, slide templates and multi-slide sets built for App Store and Google Play screenshots.
Can I bring my own AI API key (BYOK)?
Yes. Add an OpenRouter or Google Gemini API key in settings and generations use 0 StoreLocale credits; your provider bills you directly. The key is stored in your browser's local storage and sent with generation requests, so add it again on other devices.
How is my account and project data protected?
Projects are tied to your account, and the project API only returns projects you own. Passwords are hashed with bcrypt, two-factor (TOTP) secrets are encrypted with AES-256-GCM, and backup codes are stored as hashes. Sign-in and generation endpoints are rate-limited.
